AntSwarmResearchers have unraveled the genetic codes of several species of ants, presenting the possibility of genetically engineered pest control methods in the future. Most interesting to our Sacramento pest control customers will be the scientists’ findings on Argentine ants, which are not only persistent household pests that resist conventional pest control methods, but also are an invasive species that destroys other beneficial insects in our environment. One of the largest Argentine ant swarms begins in San Diego and extends the length of California to Oregon. Most surprising, some of the things researchers are learning from ant genetics may have applications for human health.
