If you think your home has been infested by bed bugs, here are some steps to take:

  • First, don’t jump to the conclusion that bug bites means there are bed bugs in your home. Look for other supporting evidence.  Here’s a video on How to Inspect for Bed Bugs from the Agriculture and Natural Resources department, University of California
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORR7yAT-Vic
  • Don’t try to solve the problem on your own. Bed bugs have become resistant to bombs and sprays and most homeowners use them incorrectly and risk ill health effects anyway. Call a trained professional who uses Integrated Pest Management (IPM)
  • Once professional treatment has occurred, you should continue to monitor for bed bugs.
  • Keeping your home clean, steam-cleaning as often as possible, as well as emptying vacuum cleaners after each use. Keep down clutter, and vacuum previously infested areas regularly.
